IND vs SL 2nd ODI rain update: India and Sri Lanka will face off in the second ODI in Colombo today, Sunday (August 4). With heavy rain and thunderstorms forecasted, there is a high likelihood that the match will be rain-affected or curtailed.

Will rain play spoilsport in India vs Sri Lanka 2nd ODI match in Colombo?

Local reports from Sri Lanka indicate that rain is affecting parts of Colombo, potentially delaying the start of the second ODI between India and Sri Lanka. The latest weather forecast predicts heavy rain in Colombo, with a 50 percent chance of rain at 10:00 AM, three hours before the match. Rain chances increase to 57 percent by 2:00 PM and are expected to ease slightly to 30 percent by 5:00 PM. However, rain is likely to pick up again afterward.

If these predictions hold true, the match might be washed out. On a positive note, the R Premadasa Stadium has an excellent drainage system, which could allow for some play despite the weather conditions.

The three-match ODI series between India and Sri Lanka is currently tied 0-0, as the series opener ended in a draw. Sri Lanka managed to dismiss Shivam Dube and Arshdeep Singh in consecutive deliveries when India was just one run away from victory.

Wanindu Hasaranga ruled out of IND vs SL ODIs

In a massive setback for Sri Lanka, all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga has been ruled out of the second ODI against India due to a hamstring injury. Jeffrey Vandersay has been named as his replacement.

“Wanindu Hasaranga will miss the remainder of the ODI series, as the player has suffered an injury to his left hamstring,” a release from Sri Lanka Cricket informed in a release.

“He experienced pain in his left hamstring while delivering the last ball of his 10th over during the first ODI. An MRI performed on the player, following this, confirmed the injury.” “Jeffrey Vandersay comes into the squad in place of Hasaranga,” the release added.
