Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has lost eight kilograms since his arrest on March 21, according to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Kejriwal, currently held in Tihar Jail, has seen major weight loss, prompting medical recommendations for dietary changes.

The Delhi High Court on Friday issued an interim stay on the bail granted to Kejriwal by a trial court in connection with a money-laundering case related to his government’s now-scrapped excise policy. The high court is expected to deliver its reserved verdict on the trial court’s bail decision next week.

In a statement, the AAP expressed concern over Kejriwal’s continuous weight loss. “The regular weight loss of the Delhi chief minister is highly worrisome,” the party said.

When arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 21, Kejriwal weighed 70 kg. His weight dropped to 63.5 kg on June 2 and further to 62 kg on June 22, the party claimed.

The medical board of the AIIMS, in view of the dropping weight of Chief Minister Kejriwal, has recommended including paratha and puri in his diet

“The medical board at AAIMS, noting Kejriwal’s weight loss, made recommendations that included “paranth and puri” in his diet,” the statement said.

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) conducted several blood tests on Kejriwal, although tests for heart ailments and cancer have not yet been performed, as per a report by news agency PTI.

Earlier, doctors from Max Hospital had recommended tests for heart and cancer due to Delhi CM’s weight loss. The AAP stated that Kejriwal had sought an extension of his interim bail by another week after June 2 to undergo these tests.

The Supreme Court, which had granted him bail for 21 days to campaign for the Lok Sabha elections, refused to extend it further.
