Anurag Basu Reacts To Claims Of Triptii Dimri Being Unsuitable For Aashiqui 3: That’s Not True

Fans of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 were thrilled at the prospect of seeing Kartik Aaryan and Triptii Dimri team up again for another iconic franchise—Aashiqui 3. The excitement grew further after reports surfaced that Triptii had undergone look tests for the film and even performed in its mahurat shot. However, recent developments have taken an unexpected turn, as director Anurag Basu confirmed that Triptii will not be part of the project.

Why Triptii Dimri has been dropped from Aashiqui 3?

Rumours speculated that Triptii was dropped from the film for being “too exposed” for the romantic storyline, which allegedly required a female lead with a “purity in demeanor.” Reports suggested that Triptii’s bold scenes in Animal were the reason for her exit, with claims that these scenes conflicted with the traditional image associated with Aashiqui’s female protagonists.

Addressing these rumours, Anurag Basu clarified the situation in an interaction with Mid Day. When asked if Triptii’s departure was related to the alleged “purity in demeanor,” Basu firmly denied the claims, stating, “That’s not true,” and adding, “Triptii knows it too.”

With Triptii stepping away from the project, the makers of Aashiqui 3 are now in the process of casting a new female lead, with production expected to commence in January or early February.

About Triptii Dimri

Triptii Dimri recently gained widespread acclaim for her role in Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal, but she also faced backlash for her intimate scenes with Kapoor. Speaking about the criticism, Triptii opened up during a conversation on Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast, revealing how deeply the negativity affected her.

She shared, “I cried a lot after Animal, for at least two-three days. I was not used to this at all. This happened all of a sudden, and I never expected I would have to face criticism of this magnitude. People were writing rubbish, and you know how nasty they can get.”

On the professional front, Triptii is currently filming Vishal Bhardwaj’s upcoming project Arjun Ustara. Initially, Kartik Aaryan was expected to star opposite her, but the role has since gone to Vishal’s frequent collaborator Shahid Kapoor, known for his work in Haider, Rangoon, and Kaminey. Additionally, Triptii has an exciting lineup, including Karan Johar’s Dhadak 2, where she will star alongside Siddhant Chaturvedi.
