Some secrets of the next “Grand Theft Auto” have been spilled. If Take-Two Interactive is lucky, that will be the extent of the fallout.
The videogame publisher’s Rockstar Games studio said Monday morning that someone breached its systems and downloaded confidential information that includes early development footage for the coming sequel to its blockbuster franchise. That followed the release of at least some of that footage over the weekend, which went viral quickly given the high anticipation for the long-awaited game. The purported hacker also suggested in postings to an online forum that he had source code for the game and was looking to negotiate a deal with the company.
