Woman, 65, killed in Humboldt Park apartment fire, police say

A 65-year-old woman died in an apartment fire early Sunday morning, according to Chicago police.

The police department responded to a call about a fire in the 1700 block of North Harding Avenue in the Humboldt Park neighborhood just after 1 a.m. Sunday. The fire department was already on scene putting out the fire. A 65-year-old woman was discovered unresponsive on the first floor of the apartment with burns on her body. The woman was given medical treatment by the fire department and transported to Illinois Masonic Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Officials say that there were no other injuries or deaths in the apartment. The police and the fire department are investigating the cause of the fire.
