U.S. stock indexes were mixed Tuesday as investors parsed earnings from major retailers that showed consumers are still shopping despite higher inflation.
As of 4 p.m. ET, the S&P 500 was up 0.2% and the technology-focused Nasdaq Composite was down 0.2%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 0.7%.
